What was published?

The JRC Product Bureau lists a study on textile-apparel DPP content dated 13 May 2026. It is available with the other textile preparatory-study documents. Open the official document list.

The report supports work on the future textile delegated act. It says its findings need stakeholder validation and refinement during the impact assessment. Treat it as technical input to policymaking. Read the report’s introduction, printed page 5 (PDF).

What does the study help clarify?

The proposed content is organised around product identification and classification, producer identification, product information and compliance documentation. The study also discusses the level of identification, access rights and data governance. It does not provide a finished technical implementation of the registry or decentralised storage. See sections 7–9 and the stated scope in the report (PDF).

Is this the final mandatory dataset?

No. A proposal in this preparatory report should not be presented as an adopted legal obligation. Nor should a software field be labelled “EU required” solely because a similar field appears in the study.

Turn it into a useful internal exercise

Our suggested approach is to map a sample garment’s existing records before expanding your data collection. For each piece of information, write down:

  • The current field name and what it means.
  • The source record or person who can confirm it.
  • Whether it applies to a model, a production batch or an individual item.
  • Who should be able to read it.
  • Who keeps it up to date.

For example, a style number, a batch reference and an individual serial number serve different purposes. Recording that distinction makes an internal mapping exercise more useful than a long spreadsheet of unexplained values.

What you can test in Item Twin

Use Item Twin to organise a product record, record composition and production information, and review the consumer-facing passport. Test Excel import and label outputs with real information your team can verify.

This is a preparation exercise using current platform features. It is not a claim that every proposal in the JRC study is implemented or that the eventual textile requirements have already been met.
